The community of Fort St. James is by urban standards a somewhat remote community that is the central trading hub for six remote communities, some as far as 200 kilometers away. The economy of Fort St. James is totally dependent upon the forest industry and all of its sectors: Harvesting, transportation, manufacturing and reforestation.
